Measures of Student Achievement and Success

We strongly believe all students and families should feel a sense of belonging in the school environment. We pride ourselves in our ability to foster a strong sense of empathy with our perse school community. Our students participate in grade 3 and grade 6 provincial testing in reading, writing, and mathematics, EQAO. Our students demonstrate personal responsibility for their learning. At Lady Evelyn students provide regular feedback and recommendations to improve their learning through inpidual goal setting as well as overall school improvement. Students develop an understanding of their own learning and are able to demonstrate this through student-led conferences, portfolios, and peer-coaching. Students, in collaboration with staff, develop rubrics and assessment tools.

School Improvement Plans and Initiatives

Along with the analysis of our EQAO results, we have reviewed daily observations of student performance, staff and student self-assessment, and demographic factors. This year at Lady Evelyn we are focusing on the following improvement outcomes:

• To establish common assessment practices that align to curriculum objectives and alternative practices.

• To involve all students in physical activities a minimum of 30 minutes a day.

• We continue to implement Balanced Literacy and align our School Improvement Plans with those of the OCDSB.

• We have identified a need to focus on increasing the writing ability of our students. We are also implementing three part math to improve student problem solving abilities.

• School wide parent-teacher interviews will take place at the end of each term.

• Character Education is embedded in our instructional practices.
